Our review
The A1 solves the two problems that rule out most budget nonstick pans. It's induction compatible, thanks to a stainless base, and its ScratchDefense coating tolerates metal utensils — which is the single fastest way people destroy a nonstick surface.
Being oven safe to 400°F opens up a technique the cheaper pans can't manage: sear on the hob, then move the whole pan to the oven to finish. For chicken thighs or a thick piece of fish that's the difference between a good result and a compromise.
The trade-offs are size and mass. Twelve inches is generous for one or two people and can be awkward on a small hob, and it's heavier than basic aluminium nonstick, which you feel when tossing food or washing up. The graphite colour won't match every kitchen, which matters only if it lives on your hob.
