This is the exception to the rule about avoiding cookware sets. Three pans at $36 works because all three sizes get genuine use — small for eggs, medium for sautéing, large for family meals — rather than the usual set padding of lids and specialty pieces you never unwrap.

The Thermo-Spot indicator turns red when the pan is properly preheated, and it's more useful than it sounds. Preheating is where most nonstick cooking goes wrong: too cold and food sticks, too hot and the coating degrades faster. Removing that guesswork extends the life of the pan and improves what comes out of it.

Read the constraints before buying. These are not induction compatible, which rules them out for a lot of newer apartments. Plastic handles cap oven use at 350°F, so you can't finish a steak under a broiler. And metal utensils will wear the coating faster — that's true of all nonstick, but especially at this price.
