Our review

The Vortex Plus is the value pick among multi-function models: six quarts and six cooking modes for roughly the price of a basic 4-quart basket fryer. If you don't already own a toaster oven, it covers noticeably more ground than a dedicated air fryer for a few dollars more.

The ClearCook window turns out to be the feature people appreciate most, and it's genuinely practical rather than a gimmick. Air frying depends on catching food at the right moment, and being able to see progress without opening the drawer means no heat loss and no guessing. It shortens the learning curve in a different way than presets do.

The honest trade-offs are size and the dehydrate function. It's bulkier than a single-purpose fryer, so it needs real counter space. And while dehydrating works, it ties up the machine for hours per batch — treat it as an occasional bonus rather than a reason to buy.

The verdict

The most appliance for the money in this category. Best if it's replacing a toaster oven as well as a fryer; skip it if you already own one and would be paying for overlap.
